At 18 years of age Jacklyn Ellis is one of the UK's youngest female drivers in BriSCA F2.
Hailing from South Yorkshire, Jacklyn is about to enter her third season in F2's but already has plenty of oval experience behind her. At just seven months old she was a regular at Banger meetings up and down the country supporting her Dad as he carved out a more than notable career. Learning to drive a geared car at just six years old was a sign of promising things to come.
At 13 Jacklyn started to help build her first Ministox and one year later she took to the track in anger. During her one and a half years in Ministox Jacklyn made it up to Red grade and won three championships. The Yorkshire Championship, Sheffield Track Championship and best White grade in her first season!
Jacklyn's last meeting in Ministox was at Hednesford in 2008 but reaching the maximum age limit for Mini's didn't deter her from wanting to race and the hunt was on for an F2 to enable her to get back out on track as soon as possible. An old Higman was purchased and after a quick paint job (pink of course!) and some blocks added to the pedals the F2 career was underway! Jacklyn is currently rebuilding an Elite ready for the new 2011 season starting. Indeed, everything that Jacklyn has raced has been built and prepared by the Ellis family. Jacklyn's dad does the engineering and Jacklyn does the welding. Motorsport is well and truly in the families blood as Jacklyn's mother also raced bangers and her younger sister Shannon is now taking over the Ministox duties.
Jacklyn has an exciting and ambitious new season planned ahead. Her goals for the 2011 season are to get as many wins as possible and hopefully make it to Yellow or Blue grade. She wants to be the best girl in the sport and be regarded as a real threat at each meeting she enters. Watch out fella's!!
Everything that Jacklyn and her family do is based entirely on whatever support they can get from sponsors. A Hospital Receptionists wage does not stretch to funding a seasons motorsport unfortunately! Jacklyn has high hopes for this new season and would like to get some more sponsors on board to try and make the goals she has a reality. The team really need some more sponsorship behind them in order to progress in the way they want to. If you would like to get involved with an ambitious Team 915 and give them some backing please get in touch with them. No matter how large or small the offer of help is it will all go towards making the effort all the more manageable and they will be more than pleased to hear from you and discuss how a partnership could be mutually beneficial.
