ftooz.co.uk was conceived and is owned, loved, nurtured, fed, watered, cleaned and maintained by Gary Dennis. A North Yorkshire lad who started the website through a longstanding passion for Formula 2 Stock Cars. Having been around Stock Car Racing since a very young age and also venturing into the world of schoolboy and adult off-road motorcycle competitions (Kickstart on the telly- I AM A LEGEND!) it was inevitable that motor sport would have a large part to play in my life. The bikes took their toll on my body and despite still enjoying riding them, BriSCA F2 is now the main form of concentration in motor sport.
Since it's launch in July 2003 the site has gone through many changes, the latest being for the start of the 2010 season, and is only what it is today because of the support that it receives from all those that use it.
The original idea behind "ftooz" was to provide fans of F2 Stockcar Racing with a tool that would enable them to access all the information that they could need regarding their chosen form of Motorsport. At the time, back in the late 1990's, technology was starting to play it's part and through friends and acquaintances I had made around the various tracks I was receiving text messages with results from meetings along with news and information/gossip. This was when the need to create a website was first realised. However, through a combination of having no real computer knowledge plus the availability of already established websites offering similar information I held back and continued to evaluate what was needed. It took approximately four years of consideration, deliberation and coaxing for me to begin those first steps of creating what you see today. I thought I could offer something different. I could see a way to go in a different direction and in my eyes, at the time, the possibilities were endless.
ftooz.co.uk in it's first form was very crude and basic. All it offered was a results service. All of the work updating the website had to be done my myself. After learning how to actually upload written content on to the interweb it was up to me to type everything up and make it available. At first this was fantastic but, as the popularity of the website grew, the demands on my time and the need to supply more and more information grew greater.
Over the next couple of years changes were introduced, some good and some bad but ftooz.co.uk had begun to evolve. Almost taking on a life of it's own. Instead of it being a one man show it had become a community fed by the knowledge and passion of many. My contribution to the cause was being taken over by the generosity and support of those who chose to use it. ftooz.co.uk as you see it today has been moulded through the use of it's members and many guests. The information made available is supplied through both official and unofficial channels but however the information is received, if it was not for the people who use "ftooz", the site would not be as strong as it is today. This is a real TEAM effort!
With over 1500 members and thousands of guests viewing the website from all over the world it does continue to go from strength to strength. The past four seasons has seen nearly 40 million pages read all over the globe!
I personally would like to thank every single person who supports ftooz.co.uk. Your enthusiasm and dedication over the years has been truly remarkable. Whilst we may have our disagreements over certain things and our opinions may differ from time to time we are really just one big family with a common interest. ftooz.co.uk is YOUR website!
I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of the website and if you feel you would like to become part of the biggest community in F2, please feel free to look up the instructions on how to become a member which can be found by clicking here.
Thank you once again for your support
Gary
